Beatriz Aramburu, Ph.D. (Founding Member, Licensed Psychologist)
Dr. Aramburu received a Ph.D in clinical psychology from the University of Washington. She is licensed as a psychologist in the state of Washington. From 1992 until 1999, Dr. Aramburu was an Associate Professor of Psychology at the Universidad de Santiago, Chile. In Chile, she also had a private practice specializing in the treatment of severe depression and anxiety disorders. She was a consultant for the Chilean Psychological Society for Anxiety Disorders from 1997 to 1999. After returning to the U.S. in 1999, Dr. Aramburu was a therapist at the University of Washington Student-Counseling Center where she had a wide variety of clients who suffered from different stress and anxiety related issues. She also taught at the University of Washington, as well as at the Washington State School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Aramburu is a DBT expert, and has been involved in DBT since 1988, while Marsha Linehan, Ph.D. was developing and refining the treatment. Since 1999, she has worked as a research therapist in various major DBT studies at the University of Washington. In addition to her practice at the Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle, where she served as the DBT director for the last five years, she is very interested in Mindfulness both as her own discipline and as a key ingredient in her professional work. She regularly attends retreats and seminars on the topic. Dr Aramburu is fluent in Spanish and English.
