Stacy Shaw Welch, Ph.D. is a founding member of the Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle, which includes the Dialectical Behavior Center of Seattle. She is also on the research faculty of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. Dr. Welch completed her doctoral work at the University of Washington, where she trained with Dr. Marsha Linehan, the developer of DBT. She has also participated as a clinician and researcher in several studies involving DBT, and continues to provide individual psychotherapy, skills training, supervision and consultation. Dr. Welch's current work at the DBT Center of Seattle emphasizes DBT with adolescents. Dr. Welch has written and presented numerous theoretical and research papers on suicidal behaviors and DBT, and has also received grant funding from the National Institute of Mental Health. Her most recent publications include an empirical study on mechanisms of non-suicidal self injury in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (2008), and a manuscript on Mindfulness in DBT (2007). In addition to her work in DBT, she works extensively with anxiety disorders in children, adolescents and adults.
